  1. Welcome to the Giga Games CDROM.  With over 2500 programs and close
  2. to 17,000 files (counting each of the zip files as one file), this
  3. disc is sure to provide hours of enjoyment.  You'll have fun with the
  4. games and the learn something from the educational software.  Your
  5. children will also have fun with the educational programs.

  7. Here is a list of some important files in the root directory.
  8.  
  9. go.bat          Batch file that lists the readme files.
  10. filename.txt    A list with full path names of all the files in the archive.
  11. filename.zip    Zipped copy of the filename.txt.
  12. filename.z      Unix compressed version of the filename.txt.
  13. index.txt       A list with descriptions of all the files in the archive.
  14. index.zip       Zipped copy of the index.txt.
  15. index.z         Unix compressed version of the index.txt.
  16. msdos/          Directory containing all the MSDOS games.
  17. net/            Directory containing all files from the internet.
  18. readme.txt      This file.
  19. unzip.exe       Program for unzipping files named *.zip.
  20. view.exe        Program to view the index files and select files to unzip.
  21. windows/        Directory containing all the MS Windows games.
  22. _bbs/           Directory containing support for bulletin board systems.

  26. Although you may own this disk, you do not own the programs recorded
  27. on it.  Many of the programs on this disk are shareware.  You are
  28. free to try each program for a limited amount of time.  If you are
  29. satisfied, and want to continue to use the program, you are required
  30. to register the program by sending a specified amount of money
  31. directly to the author of the program.  In many cases the author
  32. will send you the most up to date version of the program and a
  33. printed manual.  Please check the individual files for specific
  34. information.  Please help support shareware by contributing to these
  35. authors.  They make discs like this possible.

  39. To use this disc, change drives to the CDROM drive and type VIEW in
  40. the root directory of the cdrom drive.  The VIEW program will display
  41. directories on the disc.  When you hit the ENTER key you change to
  42. that subdirectory.  The view program then displays a list of files in
  43. that directory.  Hit ENTER again and the program will automatically
  44. decompress the file onto your hard disc.

  46. To run the programs, view the program documentation with the VIEW
  47. program, which will list text files.  Type: 
  48.         VIEW *.txt 
  49. to view text files.  (See your DOS manual for DOS filename
  50. conventions.)

  55. For windows programs compiled with Visual Basic, the run time library
  56. is required.  Copy the file vbrun100.dll in the windows directory to
  57. your windows directory.

  59. Due to the large number of files on this CDROM, the Giga-Games CDROM
  60. compilers cannot possibly attempt to validate the proper operation of
  61. the various programs.  When a program bug is reported, immediate
  62. action is taken to either correct the error or remove the offending
  63. program from the CDROM.  Still, users must understand that all
  64. programs are offered AS IS, and the archive maintainers specifically
  65. disclaim any liability should these programs malfunction or cause
  66. damage, incidental or otherwise.  When testing ANY new software, be
  67. certain that all information stored on disk is backed-up before you
  68. start, so that you can recover if files are damaged or erased.  This
  69. is particularly true if you have a hard disk, in which case
  70. malfunctions can be spectacularly disastrous.
